HAMMERED TIMELINE
NOVEMBER 2004 – NUMBER 7
NUMBER 7 is the character, determination and will of Alan Kulwicki – a NASCAR owner/operator from Wisconsin who won the 1993 Winston Cup. It is the title track of the 2005 independent movie DARE TO DREAM: THE ALAN KULWICKI STORY. NUMBER 7 began as a country ballad and emerged as a rocker.
SEPTEMBER 2005 - STRONGER
STRONGER is about overcoming odds. It was recorded for a national songwriting contest sponsored by Esquire magazine and singer/songwriter John Mayer. Basically we re-wrote John Mayer’s lyrics, added our own chorus and built it all around a riff. 2,213 entries were received worldwide. STRONGER didn’t make the top five. We knew we were on to something though.
MAY 2006 – SNAKES ON A PLANE
SNAKES ON A PLANE is about fighting and overcoming fear. It was written and recorded for a national songwriting contest for the movie of the same name. We blew it and finished the song too late for submission.
MAY 2006 – GET HAMMERED TIME
GET HAMMERED TIME describes the balance between work and spending free time on whatever it is you love to do. For us it is playing in HAMMERED…thus GET HAMMERED TIME. Fun and energetic…it has become our theme song. We wrote GHT vacationing on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. John’s son Joey kept screaming “cowabunga” jumping into the pool. It just stuck.
AUGUST 2006 – THE NEWS jingle
THE NEWS is a folksy acoustic driven radio and television jingle about a group of popular community newspapers in the Las Vegas valley…233,000 weekly circulation.
DECEMBER 2006 – ROCK AND A HARD PLACE
ROCK AND A HARD PLACE describes the struggle between a man’s calling to the road and his woman at home. We wrote the lyrics and melody for this song in 1981 in our bedroom at our parent’s house. It was one of the first songs we ever wrote.
DECEMBER 2006 – COLOR OF RAIN
COLOR OF RAIN is a tormented father who has lost his young daughter. Every parent should understand this pain but hopefully not experience it.
DECEMBER 2006 – THE BITTER END
THE BITTER END is a three acoustic guitar song about the bitterness of divorce. We recorded THE BITTER END in two takes within fifteen minutes.
MAY 2007 – GO
GO is an attitude. Whatever it is you want to do in life…don’t hesitate…go for it with no regrets despite the odds. We got the idea for GO while attending a Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field. It was forth and one for the Packers late in the forth quarter. GO is intended to shake the rafters at sporting events.
MAY 2007 – YES GOD BLESS
YES GOD BLESS is God speaking to us about His almighty power. We will all be judged. YES GOD BLESS started many years ago with a different guitar riff, different drum beat, different bass roll, different lyrics, different melody and different chorus. Other than that, it’s the same song.
AUGUST 2007 – LAS VEGAS WEEKLY jingle
LAS VEGAS WEEKLY is an aggressive radio and television jingle about a popular entertainment/nightlife magazine in the Las Vegas valley…70,000 weekly circulation.
AUGUST 2007 – FREEDOM RED
FREEDOM RED is a tribute to our incredible American military forces and the pain that death brings to all involved through it. RED is the blood paid price for FREEDOM. Originally an acoustic song…it exploded when Lopp was late for practice. TR got to it first.
SEPTEMBER 2007 – MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS GOAL
MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS GOAL is the theme song for the American Hockey League sports franchise. We took the music from GO and personalized the lyrics. The Admirals play MAG during home games and in radio and television commercials.
We have done a lot more since September 2007… look for more postings soon.
